I went to see Dayo Wong over the Golden Week holidays last week. I was probably the only Westerner in the whole arena which was packed with people from Hong Kong, Macau and China. He really draws a crowd!

I first saw Dayo on TV in Hong Kong about ten years ago when he was in the War of Genders 《男親女愛》series. I watched his show to learn Cantonese, and I thought he was hilarious. I wasn’t sure how funny he’d be on stage by himself, but he really turned out to be quite witty and had the audience laughing all throughout the performance.

One of his funniest stories was about the ‘Airport Auntie’ (机场阿婶) on youtube. Dayo said: “A woman at the airport was so upset about missing her flight, you would have thought that was the last plane for humans to ever leave planet earth. She screamed and threw herself down on the floor. She wailed so loudly, it was as if the baby she just gave birth to, ran away on its own in a taxi.” She not only missed the plane, but also lost her own baby.
